Help Me Take Stock
I'm six months in and the world is crumbling. Help me know whether this work matters to you.
Hi, Readers!
I’ve been publishing this newsletter for 6 months now. The newsletter started on June 1, 2024, at a pace of several posts per week. I scaled it back after a couple months, not because I lacked ideas for future posts (I still have a list of dozens of future topics and trust more will yet come) but because the pace wasn’t sustainable on balance with the rest of my life (things like, you know, my day job, my time with my loves, my hobbies, my desire for rest). I’ve been mostly happier with the once-weekly pace, though some weeks it’s still hard to get a post together and it can feel like a slog. Readership has been steady. No one has to pay for any of my posts or for things like commenting abilities, though I am endlessly grateful for the subscribers who kick a little money my way to help me feel like there is some (literal!) value for others in what I’m doing.
Then the US had a presidential election a few weeks ago, and things just feel dark, and I’m wondering where my energy is best spent while also thinking about how to care for myself, my family, and my community with fascism ascendent. I’m already shifting some of my energies and focus in ways that make doing this even just weekly feel harder.
Ultimately, this only feels worth it to me if people get something out of it. So please, take a few moments and share your honest feedback with me about this newsletter by clicking here. I’ll be endlessly grateful, and it will help me decide how and whether1 to move forward.
Either way, I plan to take next week off, so thanks, too, for your understanding when I do. Happy Thanksgiving —I’m grateful to everyone who is reading this!
